This book was different than I expected, although I can't say exactly what that was. At Thornfield, Jane meets the complex and mysterious Mr. It's just a small story really, about, among other things, a girl, some words, an accordionist, some fanatical Germans, a Jewish fist-fighter, and quite a lot of thievery. This story had strength, vulnerability, perseverance and some serious grit!

It is one of the finest books I've ever listened to. We're actually on our second listen, which is unusual to imagine for such a long book.

It is about love and loving, growth, famlies, immigration, learning and passion. Her rendition of the book is superb. Excellent book I highly recommend it for anyone at any age. But when their father must rush their mother to the hospital one stormy night, Rill is left in charge - until strangers arrive in force.
